Survival Guide To Personal Management
The longer we live the more we begin to realize that economic uncertainty is a fact of life for which we must prepare. Unfortunately, many of us spend well beyond our means, with the expectation that we will have the earning power to support that spending well into the future. 2008 was an eye opener for our nation as a financial crisis set in. We saw many individuals face employment layoffs, business closings, home foreclosures at an all time high, and losses in the stock market all but destroying many individual retirement accounts. This book is intended to be a financial planning guide for short, medium and long term goals, along with practical hints on how to achieve them. It may not be the worst thing that happens in your life, but outliving your money has to be pretty close. Unfortunately, nowhere in America is financial education being taught.....not in our grade schools, high schools, colleges, military, or even from our own parents. No wonder Americans are accumulating debt at a historic rate, both individually and as a nation. What we learn or don't learn usually comes from one of these traditional forums. Now is not the time for us to live in financial ignorance, pass our bad habits of managing our money down to our children and/or condone the financial incompetence of government leaders at all levels. We should not let our past failures determine our financial future. Now is the time to circle the financial wagons of ineptness at all levels and break the cycle of financial distress.
